Samuel L. Jackson’s appearance as Mace Windu in the Star Wars saga was very special, as the actor got George Lucas to allow him to wear a purple lightsaber. A very iconic color that has always been linked to the Jedi Master, but the curious thing is that his sword does not only have one peculiarity.
During a chat with The Graham Norton Show In 2013, Jackson revealed that the original handle he used on set has a message inspired by Pulp FictionSpecifically “BMF”, the acronym for “Bad MotherFucker”, which refers to the phrase that can be read on the character’s wallet in Quentin Tarantino’s film.
A few years later, during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor delved deeper into the story and revealed that he had not asked for that detail.No, they did it because they loved me.“I didn’t ask for it. When filming was over, when it was delivered to me, it had ‘BMF’ on the power button,” Jackson said, while showing an image of it that you can see at minute 6:52 of the following video.
Obviously, Mace Windu’s lightsaber that we can buy in a store does not have the “BMF” on it, making Samuel L. Jackson’s unit unique. The film crew of Star Wars wanted to pay a small tribute to him and the truth is that it turned out great.
