Consumer electronics retailers across Germany are closed. Retailers are following a decision by the federal and state governments to curb the further spread of the coronavirus.
If you have pre-ordered games for collection, the goods will be delivered in some cases. Here is an overview of the three major markets Saturn, Mediamarkt and Gamestop Germany.
Are the shops open? As of March 18, almost all branches in the whole of Germany are closed, as reported by the game industry. Only in Saxony will the markets remain open until March 19, in Thuringia there will be regional deviations by region.
What about my pre-orders? Orders placed for collection in the market cannot be accepted. According to the company, shipping via DHL or Hermes instead. Due to the current situation there may be delays and longer waiting times.
Can I order online? Yes, a statement on Facebook refers to the fact that orders in the online shops are still possible. Devices continue to be supplied, but are no longer set up or connected on site. Delivery delays can also occur here.
Gamestop
Are the shops open? With the exception of locations in Flensburg, Lübeck and Neumünster, all Gamestop branches in Germany will be closed from March 19 at the latest. It complies with government decisions in connection with the corona pandemic. On the overview page of Gamestop you can see which shops are still open.
What about my pre-orders? According to Gamestop, orders for collection at the branch cannot be sent for technical reasons. Customers must therefore wait until the corresponding store opens again. However, the goods should remain reserved.
Can I order online? According to the company, all online orders are currently processed and sent home as usual. Deliveries to the branch cannot be transferred. You can find more information on Gamestop's FAQ page.
