House of the Dragon is a huge hit after just one episode, with over 20 million people watching the first episode. Both fans and critics are praising the prequel to Game of Thrones. Despite the great success, it is surprising that the second season has already been confirmed.
We too were allowed to see the first six episodes and were thrilled:
House of the Dragon:
Spoiler-free conclusion after 6 episodes
We are extremely proud of what the entire House of the Dragon team has accomplished with Season 1
, I know Francesca OrsiHBO’s senior vice president of drama series. We couldn’t be more excited to bring the epic saga of House Targaryen to life in Season 2.
Why this could also be interesting for other series
The huge success of House of the Dragon does not only benefit the series itself. The other planned Game of Thrones projects can now appear much more confident.
There are already a few of them, for example a separate series about Jon Snow is being worked on, which is supposed to play after the events of the eighth season of Game of Thrones. That these will now also be implemented and receive a similarly high budget has probably now become much more likely.
In case you didn’t catch up with all the Targaryen names in the first episode of House of the Dragon, why not check out our family tree to keep track of things:

When season 2 will appear is of course still unclear. But we don’t have to worry about a lack of episodes yet, since the second of ten episodes will be released on Sky on August 29th.
