We do not spoil any plot details or twists and turns of the second season of The Witcher in the podcast and deliberately remain vague when it comes to specific events or the fate of individual characters. However, we are very open about the first season of the Witcher and the animated film Nightmare of the Wolf, so you should have seen them before you listen to the podcast.
An important question that we have to discuss: How much can The Witcher on Netflix deviate from the original book (and thus also the prehistory of the Witcher games)?
Because although the story arc roughly follows the novels, many characters and their experiences differ enormously from it. Sometimes that’s great because the new stories enrich the Witcher universe, but sometimes it bothers us – for example when a minor character dies unnecessarily, the “should” not yet die at all.
Above all, the second season of The Witcher is in a dilemma: Because several characters have to be positioned for two important events, the actual story moves at a snail’s pace in parts – at least in the first six of eight episodes that we were able to see in advance .
