The seemingly promising fifth season of Diablo 4, available since August 6, has major technical issues that disappoint the heroes of Sanctuary.
Diablo 4’s fifth season, titled “Infernal Hordes,” seems to have taken the theme of returning to Hell a little too much to heart. Despite preliminary testing via a public server to gather early player feedback, it still has major issues that make season-specific mechanics practically redundant, among other disappointments reported by the community.
A literally hellish Season 5 for Diablo 4
As part of this fifth season of Infernal Hordes, Diablo 4 wanted to offer us fresh gameplay mechanics for the latest addition to Blizzard’s legendary hack’n slash series. As the name suggests, we can therefore go to hell to face real waves of demons. Each one allows us to increase the difficulty of the current run, in exchange for which we will receive greater rewards at the end.
Unfortunately, here lies the problem: the chests that allow you to acquire very high-quality gear in the endgame after the modifications made in Season 4 of Diablo 4’s Revitalized Loot simply don’t work. Players report that they don’t provide the expected loot, making the entire mechanics of Infernal Hordes almost obsolete. Some players even went so far as to call Season 5 ” Horde of hellish beetles
Even more disappointing for the community, many bugs that have been present for months still persist, further marring the experience. Blizzard said it is aware of the situation and is working on a solution. Each season, Diablo 4 tries to improve on different levels, but seems to be hampered by the appearance or persistence of bugs. Hopefully, the situation will be more stable when the Vessel of Hatred DLC arrives, expected on October 8 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Game Pass.
