A speedrunner succeeded in what “normal” players would only play as a drinking game at a party: play through Sekiro, but without looking! The player “Mitchriz” blindfolded and played From Software’s rock-hard Soulslike completely by ear.
Fortunately, Sekiro offers numerous sound warnings in the fights, so that experienced players can use the sounds to identify which attacks are currently imminent. Snapping on enemies also helps to keep the character looking in the right direction.
Gambling through the entire game with the tough bosses is still a remarkable entry in the history book. The first blind speed run lasted around 4 hours and 35 minutes. You can see the final scene on Twitch:

You can see the complete run separately as Part 1 and Part 2 also on Twitch.
How did the player do it?
During the fights against bosses, Mitchriz could at least orientate himself on the noises and use the lock-on function, which was more difficult Navigation through the levels. After all, in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice there are also cliffs that Mitchriz then plunged down one time or another.
To call up the paths through the levels from memory and convert them into mouse-keyboard inputs, the speedrunner counted the seconds from one fixed point to the next. He also used other movement functions such as pike to divide paths into manageable units.
Especially the boss opponents made him sweat a lot: Mitchriz ‘samurai occasionally blessed the time and the player also had to teleport to reset points. In the end, however, there was a visibly relieved (and happy) winner who was allowed to put an unusual achievement in the intellectual showcase.
Overall, the effort (and practice) must have taken an enormous amount of time. Mitchriz has not had enough yet and now wants to optimize its runto have an even better time.
