All of the scenes shown so far from Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 look simply fantastic graphically. However, this visual splendor comes with a big catch, at least when it comes to the console version of the psychological trip.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice already looked great, with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Ninja Theory wants to take the graphic splendor a step further. At least all of the trailers released so far promise visual fireworks. We’ll find out how good the game really looks on May 21, 2024, when the title finally appears after many years of waiting.

However, the graphics probably also have their price, at least on the Xbox Series X/S. As has now been announced, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will only run at 30 frames per second on consoles. There won’t be any alternative graphics modes either, so you’ll have to be content with what the development studio gives you.
This is obviously disappointing, but VFX director Mark Slater-Tunstill actually has some sort of explanation. According to him, the studio wanted to achieve a more cinematic look through the lower frame rate, because films themselves are limited to 24 frames per second. What doesn’t quite add up is the confirmation that PC gamers get significantly higher frame rates with the appropriate hardware.
Only a few weeks ago, the approximate playing time of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was announced, according to which the title should be around eight hours long. Regarding the actual experience, Ninja Theory stated that it will be based on its predecessor: “And you can once again expect to accompany Senua in understanding her world through perceptual puzzles guided by her experiences of psychosis, in brutal and visceral fights and in traversal gameplay, this time set in the harsh but beautiful landscapes of 10th century Iceland.
The leaks were right: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be released on May 21, 2024 and there were some new scenes for the game.
