Publishers who are still risking announcing a release date for one or the other of their games know they are now likely to join the long list of postponements that have consistently hit the headlines for more than a year . Officially for Gamescom 2021, the reboot of the Saints Row franchise hoped to win the hearts of gamers bored by the tireless Grand Theft Auto V from February 25, 2022.

This morning, Creative Director Jim Boone took up the pen to announce the postponement of Saints Row until next summer:
Saints Row will not be released on February 25, 2022, as originally announced, but on August 23, 2022.
Our priority is to make the best Saints Row game yet and if we had stuck to the original date it wouldn’t live up to the expectations we have of ourselves and that you deserve. The team needs more time to live up to our vision: we are in the process of refining the game and there will be some changes in the final version of Saints Row.In fairness, we underestimated the impact COVID had on our schedule, even though everyone got used to working from home very quickly while staying incredibly productive at the same time.
However, due to the size and scale of the new Saints Row, it has been shown that our teams need more time to refine their work.
Rest assured, nothing will change as far as the story or the characters are concerned, or anything we have lovingly imagined and already shared with you over the past few years.
For the past two years all parts of the entertainment industry have been affected and / or affected in one way or another. As gamers, we know what it means to postpone a game you’ve been looking forward to – it’s frustrating and disappointing. But we also know it was worth the wait when you finally get your hands on Saints Row. Getting it right is our number one priority.
