Shooter fans who stick with the long-standing Serious Sam series have reason to be happy: Croteam and Devolver Digital have now, somewhat surprisingly, announced an independent expansion.
It has now been confirmed that Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem will be released in a few days. The expansion can be played independently and should be available for the PC from January 25, 2022.
The spin-off is co-developed by Timelock Studio; these are well-known modders who have been involved in the shooter franchise for a long time. The eponymous hero Sam Stone is unceremoniously shipped to Siberia in the expansion and has to fight his way through the Russian landscape in five brand new levels. There are consequently arctic coasts to explore as well as forests and abandoned cities.
The expansion also promises to be some of the most intimidating creatures in the series to date, which is why Sam will also get some new toys to help fight them off. Among other things, there is a legendary AK, the experimental Perun Crossbow and more new guns. There are also new vehicles and gadgets. In addition to the main missions, you should also be able to perform some secondary tasks, where you will also get to know fresh characters.
The full version of a previous Serious Sam game is not necessary to play the expansion due to its independent character. Serious Sam 4 was last released for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, but the add-on is initially reserved for PC gamers.
