This is particularly bittersweet news that Netflix just broke out to fans of Sex Education. With the fourth season, the British series finally returns, but this season will be the very last.

The best of the Netflix catalogue

Sex Education first aired on Netflix in 2019 and has quickly established itself as one of the best original creations on the streaming platform. Funny, sexy, touching, and able to tackle strong subjects with tenderness and ease – Laurie Nunn’s series possesses many qualities that have captivated fans from the very first episode.

Three seasons and 24 episodes later, aspiring sex therapist Otis and his friends have come a long way. And now it’s time to say goodbye: Netflix has just announced the fourth season, which will also be the last.

The final season of Sex Education is coming soon

Via a short teaser (available in the video player at the top of the article), Netflix shared the sad news: Season 4 of Sex Education will be the very last of the series. In this teaser we find the vast majority of the main actors, some new faces but also some absent ones. Tanya Reynolds and Patricia Allison, who played Lily and Ola respectively, previously confirmed their characters would not be returning this season. This teaser was accompanied by a letter from series creator and showrunner Laurie Nunn.

Sex Education It's Over! Netflix's hottest, funniest series is being canceled to the horror of fans

It’s been a while since we gave you any news. This fall, we’re back with Season 4, coming to Netflix on September 21st. A lot has happened since our very first writing room in 2017, when we spent a month in a cramped office above a sex shop, talking about puberty, painful embarrassments, first loves and big, big feelings.
We wanted to make a series that would answer some of the questions we had about love, sex, friendship and our bodies. Something that could have helped our inner teenager feel less alone. It’s amazing how our series has reached people around the world, and we hope it’s helped make you feel less alone too.
Writing these words seems bittersweet as we decided that season four would be our last. It wasn’t an easy decision, but once the themes and stories for this season were revealed, we realized it was time to move on to closure.
We are incredibly proud of Sex Education and feel indebted to our brilliant writers, actors and crew who put so much into every episode. They’ve worked tirelessly to bring you this final season and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Goodbyes are the worst, but let’s celebrate all the good times we shared. laurie

So you’ll get it, see you on September 21st to say goodbye to Otis, Maeve, Eric and all the Moordale students with a real party that hopefully lives up to the rest of sex education.
