Shadow and Bone Season 2: The Double Kirigan – exciting look behind the scenes of the Netflix series

Even after the end of the second season “Shadow and Bone” the legend of Grisha continues. But not in the way you might initially think. After the season finale on March 16, 2023, the team behind the Netflix production was ready to offer us many exciting insights behind the series. The official channel for the series shared some pictures and an exciting behind-the-scenes video.

The scene of Kirigan’s cremation can be seen in the pictures. Of course, the real Ben Barnes (“Marvel’s The Punisher”) was not burned in the series, but a detailed wax figure.

Actor Barnes seems to have almost developed a friendly relationship with her. But who can blame him when you can hug yourself life-size? Or Ben Barnes?

Alina and Nikolai aka Jessie Mei Li (“Last Night in Soho”) and Patrick Gibson (“The OA”) also give a little insight behind the scenes. Together, the actors visit the costume store of “Shadow and Bone” season 2.

They show off some of the impressive costumes and props from past episodes. Especially Kirigan’s robe is exciting because Li emphasizes a special detail.

In Season 2, the Dark One’s cloak is adorned with subtle gold accents. These are supposed to symbolize the connection between General Kirigan and the sun summoner Alina. Since season 2, they share the same magic.

But during their little tour, Li and Gibson try on a lot more costumes. Gibson is even crowned king by his co-star. But just like the coronation of his character Nikolai, this ceremony also comes to a quick end. After this “incident” the tour ends.

So far it is not known whether “Shadow and Bone” will get another season. So we have to be patient and hope for more information. Until then, you can rewatch the first two seasons on Netflix. You might recognize some costumes or notice when the wax figure Ben Barnes is put on the fire.
