Just a few days ago, Victoria 3 appeared on the market, now Paradox is already announcing the first patch. It’s supposed to fix annoying problems and bugs that some players still have to deal with.
But so that you already have a solution to your problem at hand, the studio has provided useful workarounds for a few of the difficulties. The complete patch notes are also available on the second page of this news.

Victoria 3 is a revolution that will take time
So you can already avoid the bugs
As Paradox stated in their forum that you are aware of some problems. They already have a short-term fix for a few of them if you can’t wait for the patch. We list:
- Language settings and Co. cannot be changed:
Some user configurations cause difficulties for the Paradox launcher, resulting in unchangeable settings. Paradox recommends uninstalling the launcher and launching the game again. More information is available in the Paradox forum. - The map is black when the game starts:
Make sure no controller is connected to the PC. This could be responsible for the camera leading in a direction where no graphics are stored. - Generals’ travel time can be bypassed for multiple orders on the same front:
One at a Time – Only issue new orders once the general has arrived at the front. It is best to agree with your fellow players in multiplayer that nobody is allowed to gain this advantage.
But if you’re intentionally making your life easier (and preferably not in multiplayer), then check out the best cheats we’ve come across in the following article:

- Generals retreat to headquarters in several wars at the same time:
If you’ve signed a peace treaty while another war is still raging, check on your generals and make sure they don’t go home. - Victoria 3 crashes when players mouse over the sell button after a new country joins the market:
Wait at least one in-game week after a new country joins the market. After that you can look at the data of the market again. - Synchronization error when trying to join a multiplayer match that is already in progress:
Paradox recommends simply trying again. If it doesn’t work after several attempts, ask the host to re-host the game and only start when all players are actually in the lobby.
Those are too not all problems yetthat players have encountered so far. You can find a complete listing on page 2. Of course, the fixes are only meant for the transition until Paradox wants to fix the issues in the upcoming patches.

When is the first patch coming?
Already next week should fix some of the issues when the first patch comes out. Exactly when in the next week is not yet clear, nor is it clear which of the listed bugs will be removed first. The troubleshooting should obviously be divided into several patches.
In the same breath, Paradox also announced that we a first look at the Victoria 3 roadmap next week will get.
On the next page you can read the official patch notes or workarounds.
