We recently saw the first game scenes from the remake of Silent Hill 2. However, these were only partially well received by the fans. Now the development studio Bloober Team is speaking out and putting the blame on Konami – if that doesn’t backfire.
At the end of January 2024, we finally saw the first real game scenes from the remake of Silent Hill 2. However, what Bloober Team and Konami presented at the PlayStation State of Play was not as well received as hoped. The trailer put a lot of focus on the combat system and that seemed pretty old-fashioned – even by Silent Hill standards, as some fans pointed out.

Now Piotr Babieno, President of Bloober Team, has spoken out in an interview with the Czech magazine investyc.tv. He addresses the allegations and doesn’t shy away from potential problems. Finally, he directly blames Konami for the less than spectacular trailer.
According to him, the trailer in no way recaptures the spirit of the game. He continues: “We are trying to fully reflect the romantic vision of a game that first appeared 22 years ago. We believe that when players see real gameplay and a real game, they will evaluate it completely differently.” According to him, the marketing responsibility lies entirely with Konami and accordingly the partner company is responsible for the video.
This isn’t the first time that Bloober Team has shifted all responsibility for Silent Hill 2 to Konami. Sometimes you get the impression that it’s just commissioned work without any real passion. Without me wanting to insinuate anything here.
Silent Hill 2 is currently in the final development phase. The release is still planned for this year on PlayStation 5 and PC.
