Warner Bros. has finally released the first full trailer for Joker: Wild As Hell, seemingly finally acknowledging that it’s a musical.

In April, the first trailer for Joker 2 (aka Joker: Folie à Deux) was released, giving everyone their first look at Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn and hinting at its musical nature, despite previous reports saying otherwise. Today, Warner Bros. released the first full trailer, and Joaquin Phoenix does sing in a large portion of it, so those musical accusations do seem accurate (for context, many movies don’t advertise themselves as musicals because that’s allegedly off-putting to some audiences). You can watch the trailer for yourself below to decide if you think it’ll go the full musical route.

The trailer’s description explains: “Joker Madness tells the story of Arthur Fleck, who is incarcerated in Arkham Asylum awaiting trial for his identity as the Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur stumbles upon not only his true love, but also the music that has always been inside him.” I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a musical! If that’s the case, though, it appears to be a jukebox musical, a type of musical that uses real-world songs rather than tracks created specifically for the show.

The film also shows for the first time Brendan Gleeson as the prison guard who watches over Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker, at Arkham Asylum. The whole thing unsurprisingly looks very dramatic, because in addition to the singing (some of which does come from Gaga), there’s plenty of dancing – and even more importantly, there seems to be plenty of violence and mayhem. It has it all!

You won’t have much time to watch it either, as Joker: The Madness of the Two Worlds opens in theaters a few months later, on October 2nd.
