Remember Tony Hawk? He’s the skateboarder and star of a series of video games that provided the foundation for you and your friends’ experiences – assuming you grew up dreaming of competing in the X Games and blasting Rage Against The Machine at your medal-winning parties. Well, he’s just revealed plans to mark what would have been the original pro skateboarder’s 25th birthday, apparently with the help of Activision.
Speaking on the YouTube cooking show Mythical Kitchen (you can be sure to find video game news here, thanks to VGC), Hawke was asked about what’s next for the Pro Skater series, given that the series’ anniversary is coming up on September 29, and Hawke revealed that he and Activision have resumed negotiations.

“I wish I could tell you more, but I can tell you that I’m talking to Activision again, which is super exciting. We’re working on some stuff,” Hawke said, between bites of Chinese chicken salad and spaghetti Bolognese served at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles.
“This is the first time I’ve said this publicly,” he said, adding, “I think it’s something the fans will really appreciate.” Hawke also ruled out the idea of contact lenses letting you skate like him, so there’s that.
Back in 2022, Hawk claimed that plans for a follow-up to 2020’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 were scrapped when development studio Vicarious Visions merged with Activision Blizzard. “I wish I could say we were working on something, but Vicarious Visions disbanded…” Hawk said at the time.[Making 3+4 after 1+2]that’s the plan. Even until the release date [1 + 2]we were originally planning on 3 + 4. Then Vicarious got absorbed, they started looking for other developers, and then… everything ended.”
“The truth is, they tried to find someone to do 3 + 4, but they didn’t trust anyone as much as they trusted Vicarious,” Birdfellow continued, “so they got suggestions from other studios like, ‘What would you do with a THPS title?’ But they didn’t like what they heard, and then that was it.”
