Skull & Bones: Happy too early: release postponed again

Bones, Early, Happy, postponed, release, Skull

Skull & Bones had been forgotten for a long time, only to reappear this year with a concrete release date. However, this cannot be complied with again.

Ubisoft doesn’t necessarily give the very best picture with Skull & Bones. Originally presented at E3 2017, the pirate epic should have been available long ago, but has faced many problems in the meantime. Instead of the release in autumn 2018, numerous shifts and fundamental revisions followed.

Accordingly, it had been quiet about the title for a long time – so quiet that you had to worry about whether the game would still appear at all. The comeback of the game on the scene this year was all the more gratifying, because there was not only new gameplay to see, but also a concrete release date of November 8, 2022.

After all this time, that would probably have been fine for many interested parties, but the crux of the matter is that this deadline cannot be met again. In this respect, the question may well be allowed as to why the game was presented with a specific date in the summer after all this long time and why it was not better to wait until you were really sure.

But the fact is now: The November date is (again) history and the game is clearly slipping into the coming year. The release for PC, Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 should only take place on March 9, 2023. Ubisoft cited the reason for the postponement that the development team needed additional time for fine-tuning and balancing in order to deliver the best possible gaming experience – a classic among the justifications, which brings us back to the thesis above.

After all: As compensation, there should be an open beta test phase in the near future. From this point of view you can at least play Skull & Bones, although by no means in a finished version. More details about this beta will follow soon.
