Skull & Bones: New gameplay today, more info soon

Bones, Gameplay, Info, Skull, Today

As Skull & Bones continues to work diligently to become Ubisoft’s most-postponed title, the developers have now commented on what’s next after the recent postponement.

For a few days it has been clear that the tale of woe of Skull & Bones will accompany us a little longer. We remember: the pirate game, which has been in development for around ten years, was postponed again and is now only scheduled to appear in the coming fiscal year, which begins in April 2023, after March was actually fixed. Arrrr.

In addition to the usual justifications, which mainly revolve around the fact that more time is needed for balancing and polishing based on player feedback, there is now more information. Ubisoft wants to comment “very soon” on a specific new date and also announce information on upcoming test phases.

More interestingly, notwithstanding the postponement, Ubisoft plans to show new gameplay footage this Friday with the confidence that we will be “positively surprised at the development of the game.” Let’s hope so, because last fall’s playtest didn’t really convince us.

According to the current status, the stream should be tonight at 6 p.m. on the Ubisoft Twitch channel to be shown. After the long development time, one can only hope for Ubisoft that a usable game will come out in the end, especially since it is already questionable whether the development costs can ever be recovered or whether Ubisoft is only operating with the release to reduce losses.

Ubisoft had to accept setbacks anyway after a weak quarter, in which the two releases for Mario & Rabbids and Just Dance fell short of expectations. In addition, three previously unannounced games have now been canceled again, causing the company’s share price to fall by a whopping 19 percent.
