Sky originally wanted to broadcast the Formula 1 race from Imola on YouTube for free. But that was cancelled. Now the broadcaster has revealed which Grand Prix will be shown instead.
After the cancellation of the Formula 1 race in Imola, it was initially unclear what would become of Sky’s planned free broadcast of the race on YouTube. Now the broadcaster creates clarity. As Sky announced on Twitter, you will instead be able to watch the Spanish Grand Prix online for free on Sunday.
The race from Barcelona is not only available to watch for free on YouTube, but also on skysport.de and via the Sky Sport App. Of course, subscribers can also follow it via Sky Q, Sky Go or Wow. The qualifying and the free practice sessions can also be seen here.
Why is Sky showing Formula 1 on YouTube?
Sky is contractually obliged to broadcast four free-to-air races per season. RTL took over the transmission last season. But the free TV partner dropped out before the season and a new one has not yet been found. Therefore, Sky initially wants to broadcast two races for free on YouTube. In addition to the Spanish Grand Prix, the race from Budapest on July 23 is scheduled to be broadcast free of charge on the Internet.
