Skyrim strikes again
Recently, YouTuber Digital Dreams published a video highlighting the 2024 version of Skyrim with more than 3,100 mods. Among these improvements, NiceGuy’s full RT shader stands out. This advanced shader, which uses ray tracing, allows you to add global illumination with effects such as diffuse lighting. But also specular reflections, ambient occlusion, and bright reflections. It’s a whole program that changes the look of the game. Sometimes it almost feels like you’re playing a completely different game.
Although Bethesda is focused on developing the sixth installment in the series, it’s unlikely we’ll see an official remake of Skyrim that fully utilizes modern technologies. However, the game has already been improved since its initial release. In 2016, the Special Edition was released, including the base game. All expansions, reworked graphics and effects, volumetric rays, dynamic depth of field, screen space reflections, and much more. In 2021, the Anniversary Edition was released to celebrate the game’s tenth anniversary, adding new content and gameplay adjustments.
