Big news that even God would love! SMITE – the long-running third-person action MOBA – is getting a sequel. SMITE 2 It has been announced that it will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The game is a complete overhaul of SMITE 1 in Unreal Engine 5, but what does that mean? Well, it’s a brand new game that will target about 25 gods when it eventually launches, but you’ll be playing similar game modes and gods. This returning content from SMITE 1 is getting visual and gameplay updates. Judging from the information revealed, the goal of this game seems to be to take all the advantages of SMITE 1 and polish it appropriately.
This includes the in-game user interface as well as how the game itself is played. Changes to the basic 5v5 map are made to mix up gameplay and the way you build your characters! Not only will players gain access to a sixth inventory slot, but the way they purchase and build items has also been simplified.
Furthermore, there are two main sources of a god’s power – strength and intelligence. Increasing these stats through items allows you to build god builds that focus on different abilities. If you’re familiar with it, this is like AP and AD in League of Legends. Dedicated strength stats can tailor your god’s playstyle.
If you’ve been playing SMITE for a while, you’ll be rewarded for your time (and money invested). This comes in the form of heritage gems and sacred heritage. Legacy Gems are the currency of SMITE 2, with a 1:1 ratio of each gem you ever spent in SMITE 1. When you have these amounts on your SMITE 2 account, you can use them to pay for half of your microtransactions. There is no indication of where you can use these amounts accustomed to Able to spend them, but it’s basically a 50% discount for previous consumers.

Speaking of Legacy, these are the rewards chosen for SMITE 2 based on previous achievements in SMITE 1. If you complete enough Legacy objectives, you’ll earn unique SMITE 2 rewards, including skins and cosmetics. However, it also notes that new players can also now jump into SMITE 1 and receive these rewards, so it’s unclear how much of this feature only OG players will get.
If you don’t want to continue SMITE 1, don’t worry now. SMITE 1 and SMITE 2 will be developed simultaneously by Titanforged Games. Executive producer Alex Cantatore said in an early press release that they plan to support SMITE 1 for the foreseeable future. However, he also said that they hope that once players get into SMITE 2, they’ll jump on it (which is fair – it’s a new game), so don’t worry about SMITE 1 for now.
