The MOBA Smite, originally released in 2014, could potentially be getting a successor, which could be imminently announced.
Data miners have found evidence that fans of the long-standing third-person MOBA Smite may be looking forward to a sequel in the form of Smite 2. An official announcement could be imminent and that would be fitting given that the original game was released in March 2014 – i.e. the 10th anniversary is coming up.
The clues found are actually quite clear: First of all, there was a posting on the Russian Steam website in which Smite 2 was eagerly discussed – but this disappeared quite quickly.
But the second clue is clearer, because there was even an advertisement asking Steam users in Russia to add Smite 2 to their wishlist. This ad also quickly disappeared, but was captured via screenshot and is currently there continue to be at Reddit.
This in turn brought the data miners into action, who found references and hints to a “Smite 2 Founders Pack” in the current Smite. This is scheduled to become available during the 10th Anniversary Birthday Event, which falls on March 25, 2024.
It now remains to be seen whether Smite 2 will actually come as a full sequel or whether it may also be a comprehensive upgrade of the previous title that essentially overwrites the first part. Anyone who was hoping for a Smite sequel seems to have been heard. We will keep you up to date!
