hell alone The cult classic turn-based strategy PC game that shocked players when it landed in 2009 is finally returning in 2023, according to a new trailer released this week at EGX by developer Alliance Geek.
The diabolical turn-based experience is returning for modern gamers, this time with a new developer – it’s been reimagined by Armello creators, League of Geeks, and will arrive with an all-new single-player scenario and scenario — in-your-sleep asynchronous multiplayer match, boot.
Like the original, the new game will require you to deploy cunning moves and political wits to defeat your opponents and reign supreme. The game has been modernized and built in 3D, with a completely updated visual interface, bringing in what The League of Geeks has learned from Armello in terms of “unique and acclaimed aesthetics and production values.”
The game’s premise is everything you’d expect from politics, intrigue, and betrayal: “The Prince of Darkness has renounced his throne, and the great Infernal Lord now has nefarious plans to take the Pandaemonium’s Infernal Throne,” the press release says.
“Use deep systems to outsmart your opponents and master cunning political and military strategy. Say goodbye to friendship as you bluff, backstab and sow betrayals and betrayals on your way to becoming the new ruler of hell.”
In order to succeed – and take over hell for yourself – you’ll need to choose one of the eight Great Demons at the start of the match, then customize the villain’s defining perks to suit your own personal playstyle. You’ll be able to choose a secret plan during the campaign and increase your power level as you plan your way to the Underworld.
As you ascend (or descend, depending on your perspective), you will master the five realms of evil: anger, deception, prophecy, destruction, and charm. Command over 50 different legions and demonic archons to conquer the land of power and claim artifacts for evil favors.
“The original Solium Infernum is one of the best video games ever made. Its evocative, Milton-inspired vision of hell and deep focus on political intrigue is unlike anything else on the market,” Geek Union said co-founder and director Trent Kusters. “We are honored and ecstatic to bring Solium Infernum into the spotlight it has always deserved!”
Solium Infernum is coming to PC in 2023, with a more specific release date yet to be announced.
