Some EA Sports FC 24 players feel that EA doesn’t pay enough attention to the special cards in the many “minor” leagues around the world that people like to use to add a bit of variety to their teams.
With Team of the Year voting just concluded, many of the game’s Ultimate Team fans are currently waiting for new valuable cards to flood in and be up for grabs. That said, some players who like to inject some Eredivisie or Portuguese League flair into their teams have begun to reflect on how exceptional those leagues have been in terms of cards so far this year, and opinions on EA’s approach appear to be somewhat divided.

In a post on the EA FC subreddit, one player decided to delve into the calendar of promo card numbers that some leagues have accumulated so far through the different events and themes that have emerged over the course of Ultimate Team, such as Trail Blazers and Winter Wildcards. They concluded that the Saudi Professional League received more attention than other “minor” leagues, with the exception of the European giants who usually receive a lot of attention.
As many peers have pointed out, this is not surprising given the reputation of the players the Saudi league has attracted in recent years. The likes of Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema are all household names that many players want to use, and from a commercial perspective they have a lot of potential to attract people to buy kits.
Some have also speculated that a desire to attract the Middle East’s larger player base may be a driving factor behind the trend. While many users in the thread believe that EA is likely to have an official sponsorship partnership with the Saudi Pro League (it’s worth noting that EA Sports is mentioned along with some of the official sponsors on the league’s website), it doesn’t look like it’s entirely possible That’s right. The publisher’s agreement with the Premier League and La Liga is clear.
That said, the post’s author’s main argument is that regardless of what possible motivations there may be for promoting these leagues by providing them with a large number of special UT cards, EA could still put more focus on the broader leagues. “There’s nothing stopping EA from releasing more cooler cards that don’t even have to be world-class,” they wrote, adding: “This is really disappointing.”
They believe that taking such a step will help increase the diversity of teams in the mode and help create more beloved cards, as well as the opportunity to get to know up-and-coming players who are about to enter the bigger leagues.
