Half-Life, Valve’s legendary FPS franchise, would be preparing something big for a return eagerly awaited by many gamers.
Last month, new rumors suggested that the Half-Life 3 myth might finally be a reality, and these are gaining traction as Valve specialist Tyler McVicker leads his little investigation into the bowels of Black Mesa. Gabe Newell’s mad scientists are reportedly working on experiments that could hold promise for Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance.
Half-Life more alive than ever?
Four years after the absolute VR masterpiece Half-Life Alyx, which clearly excited the teams around the legendary license like never before, everything indicates that Valve would soon offer something new for this legend of the FPS genre on more conventional platforms. This is what Tyler McVicker suggests after a methodical study of the activities of the company that oversees Steam. According to him, something is brewing in the Black Mesa labs, with not one but two Half-Life games, in addition to the famous MOBA/hero shooter Deadlock.
To back up his statement, the YouTuber states that he has discovered a number of references to this effect in various lines of code or in reports from other people close to Valve. One of the upcoming games should therefore be an “old-fashioned” work, and perhaps the much-predicted Half-Life 3. The other could be a rather ambitious project: an asymmetrical game, with a PC version on one side in which we control the dear Gordon, and on the other side a VR game in which we control Alyx. This would inaugurate the VR headset codenamed Deckard, on which Valve continues to work.
As the icing on the cake (which is a lie, everyone knows that), Tyler McVicker announces that Valve would be preparing a very special announcement for the 20th anniversary (yes, already) of Half-Life 2, released precisely on November 16, 2004. In any case, it would be an ideal date to delight fans of this FPS monument. In the meantime, the YouTuber promises to add more elements to his investigation to make our wait easier. In any case, our attention as fans of Half-Life is piqued, we hope that all this will be officially confirmed soon.
