Game news Sonic Origins: A hidden level of Sonic 2 Mega Drive revealed in a new video!
The Sonic Origins compilation scheduled for June 23 will be an opportunity to find the first canonical adventures of the blue hedgehog. In addition to the original Sonic the Hedgehog, players can enjoy Episodes 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles, as well as the Mega CD component Sonic CD. A leap into the past that is promised to us full of surprises and is also a nice secret that just jumped in the faces of fans today.
In fact, by discovering the latest Sonic Origins video (broadcast during the Rulicon event in South Korea), Hedgehog fans have noticed the presence of a hidden Sonic the Hedgehog 2 level on Mega Drive. Indeed, in the clips of the various games featuring the SEGA mascot, we can actually see a very brief passage from the Hidden Palace area! This one, which by the way gave its name to one of the most famous communities for preserving video games (as well as an excellent show by Fire-Nolife), was planned in the second installment of Sonic but was eventually shelved in the final version of the title.
A LEVEL OF SONIC 2 BECOME ICONIC BUT INAPPROACHABLE
Hidden Palace is one of the most famous hidden areas in video games. Planned in Sonic 2 on Mega Drive, it was initially intended as a bonus course for Sonic’s transformation into Super Sonic. At the time when the game’s development was delicate (to say the least), Yuji Naka and his henchmen decided to delete it in order to focus on the main levels of the adventure. Eventually, Hidden Palace reappeared thanks to the exhumation of a Sonic 2 prototype, and then it was opened up to players through re-releases of the game (especially on mobile). The same level seems to be back in the Sonic Origins video, and the title will likely allow as many people as possible to discover this hidden realm that has been talked about so much in the past.
Sonic Origins is expected on June 23, 2022 on PS5, PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
