Sonic Superstar release date has leaked, and it looks like it’s going to have a Super Mario Bros. Marvel counterpart

While the release dates on GameStop and Target’s online sites have both been changed to “TBD” and December 31st, respectively, deals guide Wario64 spotted earlier this week that both sites list an October 17th release date. Sega hasn’t actually confirmed a specific release date for the upcoming 2.5D platformer, and is currently touting a fall release window.

Of course, if this release date turns out to be true, there will be a bit of nostalgia for those who grew up with the original Sonic games, because just three days later, on October 20, the recently announced Super Mario The O Brothers will also be released on October 20. Wonder is also being released. Nintendo revealed the latest entry in the 2D Mario game series as its “one more thing” at this week’s Direct. Like Sonic Superstar, the upcoming Super Mario Bros. brings some visual revamps to the classic game series, offering more characters in animation. Plus, Mario can now turn into an elephant. whatever you want.

S onic Superstar debuted a few weeks ago at the Summer Game Festival, promising to combine some classic gameplay with some modern touches. Notably, original Sonic the Hedgehog character designer Naoto Oshima is back for the next game, and apparently even has a new character for him (although that hasn’t been revealed yet).

We also recently got our hands on the game and were very positive about the overall experience, although the boss fights didn’t feel like anything new.

Whether or not the leaks are true, Sonic Superstar launches this fall and will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
