The blue cult hedgehog Sonic is currently back in fashion in the entertainment sector as it has not been for a long time. After the very successful film adaptation, there is now a new animated series.
SEGA’s cult game figure Sonic will not only get a sequel on the big screen after the new film recently made positive headlines. Rather, Netflix has now secured the next game brand to produce a series based on.
After Castlevania, The Witcher and, in the future, Assassin’s Creed, Sonic the Hedgehog will also be implemented in series format by the streaming giant. An animated 3D series is therefore planned for 2022. The corresponding cooperation was confirmed by Netflix and SEGA this Thursday via Twitter, even if the said tweet was taken off the network a little later.
“Rings? Check. Sneakers? Check. Speed? SONIC. SEGA’s legendary video game icon Sonic the Hedgehog is racing in a new 3D animation series on Netflix; premiere in 2022,” read the said tweet.
Wild Brain, who previously produced “Carmen Sandiego” for Netflix and “The Snoopy Show” for Apple TV +, will be responsible for the series implementation. In addition, Man of Action (“Ben 10”, “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble”, “Mega Man: Fully Charged”) has its hands in the game.
