Jade Raymond’s (Assassin’s Creed) studio joins the PlayStation Studios family. The Sony Interactive Entertainment acquisition comes while Haven is working on a AAA multi.
As we knew, Sony Interactive Entertainment will not be closing its portfolio and intends to expand the number of first-party studios it owns, both through internal growth for some of them and through acquisitions. The PlayStation Studios roster grows with the Haven acquisitiona fledgling structure founded by Jade Raymond, known for having started the Assassin’s Creed franchise as a producer.
An oasis of calm
Haven will therefore advance under the PlayStation Studios banner, a little over a year after opening. Jade Raymond, founder and CEO, spoke on PlayStation Blog.
A year ago this month, Haven Studios embarked on an adventure with a small team but big ambitions
. Our goal was to build a studio that would allow us to make the games we’ve always wanted to make, games we actually wanted to play! Thanks to our passionate team and their extraordinary dedication, we have m ade incredible progress in such a short time. At Haven, we have established a culture based on friendliness, flexibility and the courage to let your creativity run free. Our first franchise for PlayStation is poised to deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with an ever-evolving world focused on freedom, passion and excitement to keep players entertained for years to come..Today, the Haven team begins a new phase in their adventure by joining the PlayStation Studios family. Working with Hermen, Connie Booth and the entire PlayStation team over the past year has been a career highlight. SIE is a real support who fully understands what the creative process is and what makes a AAA hit. They gave us carte blanche to bring our bold project to life and make our dreams come true.. We are therefore pleased to take this opportunity to strengthen our partnership.
As an internal studio at SIE, We’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the most famous development teams in the world, including studios like Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule or Insomniac Games, the game developers who have inspired us as gamers and developers for years. We look forward to learning from these world-renowned studios and the exceptional creative, technical and marketing teams whose expert ise will enable us to create even more amazing games for gamers.
The ex-Stadia Studio manager is ready to get back in the saddle after the setbacks he experienced with Google, which shouldn’t be repeated here. If Sony Interactive Entertainment has taken Haven under its wing, it’s because the current project and the team’s vision are clearly worth the effort.
Netizen Benji-Sales summed it up Shopping Japanese manufacturer in the last 31 months:
Haven on a new PlayStation 5 license
At the moment we don’t have any pictures of this mysterious game, but as mentioned above, there will be one new license PS5a AAA multiplayer experience. Jade Raymond is collaborating with former colleagues from the Ubisoft era on this exclusive game, which could also come to PC. In the workforce, for example, there’s Raphael Lacoste, artistic director of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and he’s not the only one. In truth, it’s a large chunk of the developers of the first installment who decided to join the Haven Studios adventure.
The transaction amount is currently unknown, but given the studio’s youth, don’t panic.
