One of the strongest collaborations that Sony presented in 2021 was the alliance with Haven Studios. The developer was born and immediately linked her first project to the Japanese company, always under the command of Jade Raymond. The industry veteran has managed the Canadian team for the past year.
now sony Just confirmed what Haven Studios becomes part of PlayStation Studios, the second acquisition of the year after Bungie. The announcement of the purchase has not revealed the price for which the operation has been closed, but Jim Ryan, CEO of SIE, Has celebrated the news:
“Haven Studios is an emerging studio with an exceptional team of talent, and we are delighted to welcome them to PlayStation as our first game development studio in Canada.”
On behalf of Raymond, the director of Haven Studios has explained that “we have made incredible progress in a short time thanks to our talented and passionate team.” She stresses that the work environment based on “the kindness, adaptation and courage” has been key in making great progress.
He has again referred to the new IP he is working on, which we know will be coming to PS5 and PC. The person in charge details that the work will be “a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world centered on freedom, excitement and gameplay that will keep gamers entertained and engaged for years to come.”
Regarding Sony’s projection on creating several games as a service for the future, the head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, wanted to focus plus the vision of the company:
“Obviously we’ll always continue to make these narrative single-player games, like Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us and Horizon Forbidden West. (…) We’ve got quite a few now in development or conceptualization, so yeah (…) it’s very exciting for us to welcome a group of people who have a lot of experience in games as a service to the family.”
