Sony has confirmed the high reserves of PS5, which at least in the United States have exceeded in 12 hours what was achieved by PS4 in 12 weeks.
In the latest financial report, Sony has calculated the consoles that it will be able to sell during the fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2021: more than 7.6 million units distributed, which is what PS4 achieved in its fiscal year of launch.
Not only are the forecasts for higher hardware sales, but more games will be sold as well first party as from other companies.
“We look forward to launching PS5 in great shape thanks to the attractive launch catalog, the strength of the PlayStation brand, our preeminent gaming ecosystem and the cohesion of the gaming community.”says Sony, which has repeatedly rated the best game launch in its history thanks to Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls Remake The Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and other titles for the next few months like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart -confirmed for the launch window-, Gran Turismo 7 or aftermath of Horizon: Zero Dawn Y God of War.
“Our strategy is to increase sales and profits through greater user participation driven by great gaming experiences on the PS5,” also relying on strengthening network services. The long-term intention is also to exceed total PS4 sales., which at the moment is in the 113.8 million consoles sold.
Ghost of Tsushima, key in the last quarter
Ghost of Tsushima was launched on July 17, so it was one of the keys to the good sales of this quarter -July, August and September-, which also dragged the success of The Last of Us Parte II -19th of June-.
In those three months, almost 81 million games were sold, of which 12.4 million were games first party -almost double that in 2019-.
