This week has been pretty wild for the most ardent fanbase. We showed Silent Hill and Resident Evil back-to-back, both showing two very important remakes of Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill 2. Then for some reason, nobody but the person who posted it (probably) knew, Sony tweets about Bloodborne.
The plight of Bloodborne fans is a pretty sad one, and I’ve always found it fun to be on the sidelines. The way Sony keeps disappointing fans of Souls games is almost laughable. After yesterday’s tweet, it almost felt like Sony was putting its fans away on purpose.
Last night, Sony posted a rather unreal tweet. A tweet that could easily be read as some sort of trailer; will Bloodborne be remade? Maybe even a sequel? I’m sorry to say, but that seems unlikely given what happened next.
“Can you see that? Which PlayStation game cover are we zooming in?” reads the deleted tweet. You don’t even need to have played Bloodborne to know which games Sony has shared pixelated cover shots of.
Nibellion perhaps said it best, quoting Sony’s tweet, “Don’t do it unless you have something to announce.” Of course, fans flocked to the tweet and took the bait. It seemed like a joke made by someone at Sony quickly got out of hand, when Bloodborne fans either didn’t take it as a joke or, like Nibel, thought Sony should keep its jokes until something advisable was announced.
As a result, the tweet was deleted by Sony, and Bloodborne fans are more frustrated than ever. Even with the tweet deleted, some still hope that Sony hasn’t completely forgotten about Bloodborne, which could hint that something might be going on with the game in the future. Others, however, were just upset that Sony would shake a carrot in front of fans like this.
So there’s absolutely no sign of any real gory news, but we don’t think it’s good news that Sony hasn’t completely forgotten about this game. Maybe someday, the dreams of Bloodborne fans will come true, but for now, my heart goes out to them.
