Sony has also hit the market again and incorporated another developer. While the studio is still relatively unknown, studio head Jade Raymond has a big name.
Sony has officially confirmed the acquisition of Haven Studio. The developer tells you nothing? This is probably because the studio is still fairly new. This was founded by studio manager Jade Raymond – and she has quite a big name in the industry. Raymond was responsible as producer for the first Assassin’s Creed from Ubisoft. She also played a key role in Watch_Dogs and Splinter Cell: Blacklist, before later working for EA as the producer of Star Wars: Battlefront II, among other things.
After a stint at Google, where she was supposed to lead the Stadia games division, she has since set up her own business with Haven Studio. She is currently working with the new developer on a live service multiplayer title for the PlayStation 5.
Although the new acquisition is not celebrated as a coup like Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard, the step is still a good one for Sony. Raymond is highly decorated in the video game industry and has won countless awards for her work. It can be assumed that she is pursuing quite ambitious goals with her new project.
Haven Studio was founded just last year after Raymond left Google. After the Stadia cloud gaming service failed to achieve the success it had hoped for, Google stopped trying to create its own first-party titles.
Many former Google employees have followed Raymond to Haven Studio, as have former Ubisoft employees.
