Sony PlayStation will once again be absent from gamescom this August, but the company has now surprisingly confirmed an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show.
Sony has not been seen at gamescom in Cologne for several years – and the same applies to the Tokyo Game Show, the largest and most important games fair in Asia. While Sony’s absence also applies to this year’s gamescom, the company has now surprised everyone with the announcement that it will once again be present at the TGS.
The event’s website now confirms that this year, with 731 exhibitors, the largest number ever in the trade fair’s history will be reached – and Sony Interactive Entertainment is also mentioned in this context. Sony will therefore be present in both the Indie Game Area and the Family Game Area at the Japanese trade fair.
It is Sony PlayStation’s first appearance at the TGS since 2019. At that time, Hideo Kojima was also invited to talk about his new game Death Stranding. What Sony will show at the Tokyo Game Show in 2024 after years of abstinence is not yet known. Fans are already speculating online that the company might present the PlayStation 5 Pro there; an official confirmation of this is unlikely in advance.
The Tokyo Game Show will take place from September 26 to 29, 2024, with tickets for the event going on sale from July 13, 2024.
