If new reports are any indication, we might finally hear Sony’s answer to Xbox Game Pass next week.
According to Bloomberg, PlayStation Plus combined with the PlayStation Now service, code-named Spartacus, will launch “as soon as next week.” The report says the service will debut with a series of “hit games of recent years.”
Previous reports on the service said Spartacus would charge a monthly fee and would offer access to classic and modern games. Scheduled to launch in the spring, it will combine PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now into one service.
Others say the service will have multiple tiers, offering the most expensive extended demo and streaming capabilities.
Spartacus aims to make Sony’s PlayStation Plus service more competitive with Xbox Game Pass, which has more than 25 million subscribers as of January 2022.
PlayStation Plus had 48 million subscribers as of December 2021, and PlayStation Now had over 3.2 million subscribers as of May 2021.
