Sony has announced a new customizable controller for the PlayStation 5.
Call DualSense Edgethe controller has a replaceable rocker cap and back button, and a replaceable rocker module.
There are three types of replaceable stick caps: standard, high dome and low dome, each of which helps maintain grip and stability. Two sets of interchangeable back buttons can be configured as any other button input, while the replaceable rocker module can be completely replaced.
The controller also features several hardware and software-based customization options, such as allowing you to remap or deactivate specific button inputs. It allows fine-tuning of stick sensitivity and deadband, and each trigger can adjust travel distance and deadband to your liking.
It is also capable of saving multiple control profiles that can be swapped on the fly.
There’s a dedicated Fn button that lets you easily adjust settings while focusing on your game. This lets you quickly switch between preset control profiles, adjust game volume and chat balance, and access the controller profile settings menu to set up and test new control iterations in-game.
Like its predecessor, the DulaSense Edge features haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, built-in microphones, motion controls, and more.
In addition to the included stick cap and back button set, it also comes with a braided USB Type-C cable that locks into the controller using a connector housing. It also comes with a carrying case.
Sony says it will share more details about the DualSense Edge wireless controller, including when it will be released, in the coming months.
