A new Sony patent has surfaced, and its VR controller has similar functions to the Valve Index.
These similar features of the VR motion controller patent include finger tracking, hand straps and seemingly analog sticks.
According to the patent specification, the device is worn rather than fixed, and includes a "multiple sensor unit" for detecting a finger and a "sensor support portion" supporting the sensor unit.
The sensor support portion "supports the sensor unit" so that the distance between the sensor units can be changed according to the size of the user's hand. Sony stated in the outline that "hope the user can adjust the positional relationship between the sensor and the finger based on the size of his or her hand."
As mentioned in Upload VR, the finger sensor is similar to the sensors on Valve's Index controller and Oculus Touch controller. When a finger is detected, the controller instructs the user to clenched his fist or grasp an object. If the finger is not above the sensor, the device assumes that the user has extended outward.
There are four buttons on the front of the controller, which seem to be an analog joystick or maybe a fifth but ton. This makes the device very different from the PlayStation Move controller currently used in PSVR and is consistent with the VR controllers used on the market with PCs.
It is worth noting that this is only a patent and may be changed or not released at all.
In our opinion, Sony has not yet announced the new PSVR model or controller as the main release target of this holiday, which is the PS5 released this holiday. So far, we have all the information about the host.
