Rainbow Six: Siege enters its eighth year! The most exciting thing in the new season: the attacker Brava, who can take over other gadgets with her drone! But that’s not the only change waiting for you.
But first things first: We summarize the known innovations from Y8S1, called Operation Commanding Force, in a compact way so that you can get an overview.

New operator
Brava is a Brazilian attacker with three speed points. Her ability is an extremely useful drone: The tank-like device (Kludge drone) can reverse the polarity of the defenders’ gadgets, allowing you to control them
For example, with a hacked Evil Eye, Maestro’s camera, you can not only collect information: you even have the option of opening the protective window and shooting with the camera! A badly placed Evil Eye can destroy many other gadgets, such as Kaid’s electroclaw or Bandit’s batteries.
You can even hack Kapkan’s traps, sending the defenders running to their own crafted doom! The only protection from the new drone comes in the form of anti-drone operators Mute and Mozzie. But their gadgets can also be taken over if the small vehicle doesn’t jet into the danger zone first. Also, you can destroy Brava’s Gadget with one shot just like any other drone, even though it looks like a tank.
After a shot, the Kludge drone needs to recharge for a while before the next hack can take place – similar to Lesion’s Gu mines. But even with a hack, the drone can in theory do a lot of damage.
Brava’s other gear is as follows:
- Main Weapon: PARA-308 (Captain) or CAMRS (Buck)
- secondary weapon: USP40 (Jackal, Mira, Oryx) oder Super Shorty (Castle, Clash, Gridlock)
- second gadget: Claymore or smoke grenade

More changes in Season 1 Year 8
No new map will appear in the next season, nor will an old map be reworked. However, other changes are coming our way.
- Reload: The reload animation can no longer be interrupted. A click on the R button must therefore be considered carefully, especially with slow-loading weapons like Finka’s LMG.
- Voice Chat Punishment: Toxic players are automatically muted at the start of the round. However, players can manually turn their colleague’s voice chat back on if they wish.
- Zero: Splinter Cell protagonist Sam Fisher aka Zero in Rainbow Six: Siege is getting an overhaul. How exactly he and his gadget will change is still unclear.
- Consoles: Players who gain an advantage on the consoles with a mouse and keyboard will suffer a slight lag in the new season, which means that their inputs will be recognized more slowly. As soon as they switch back to the controller, the lag goes away.
- Other changes: The user interface will be adjusted again, weapon attachments will be adjusted for better balancing and challenges for beginners should make it easier to get started.
When it comes to balancing, the topic of skill-based game creation (SBMM) quickly comes up. We talked extensively about the pros and cons in the following podcast:
