It may not have a title, but Disney has pulled the plug on its December 2026 Star Wars movie and launched a family-friendly alternative that I’m sure will do well.

Star Wars is in a very strange position right now, since most of the new media for the universe canon since The Rise of Skywalker came out has been TV shows. There isn’t a movie yet, and based on some recent reports, it’s clear that the Mouse House is trying to figure out how to move forward with the movie. But as of now, the only concrete decision it seems to have made is to remove an upcoming Star Wars movie (via Variety ). The movie was originally scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026, and it’s unclear what it was intended to be (possibly Rey’s solo movie, but that one also struggled a bit), but that doesn’t matter now.

What to replace it with, you might ask? Ah, well, Ice Age 6 of course! Yeah, in case you missed the news, last week Disney announced that another Ice Age movie is coming, and I’m sure you all look back on this series fondly and definitely don’t think to yourselves, “Wait, there are five of those Something?” Being a December release game, just in time for the holidays and stuff, it makes sense, but going from Star Wars to Ice Age 6 is kind of interesting.

Technically, the latest entry in the series is the 2022 film The Adventures of Buck Wilder, but that was a Disney+ release, so I wouldn’t blame you if you’ve never seen it. Before that was “Ice Age 5” in 2016, so when “Ice Age 6” was launched, a full decade had passed since the last mainline game.

But don’t worry Star Wars fans, 2026 isn’t without any Star Wars movies to look forward to. Currently The Mandalorian and Grogu (yes, that’s its real name) is scheduled for release in May 2026, and there are more in the works, so maybe Disney will actually try to figure out how Bringing Star Wars back to the big screen. I wouldn’t place any bets, though.
