Look, before you read this, make sure you have tissues ready. The poor spear of Hellraiser 2. Until the game’s latest update, its aiming function was broken, and a group of loyal assassin-loving players spent a lot of time praying and urging Arrowhead to fix it for them. The developers did it. But now the poor spear has been thrown back to the doghouse.
In case you weren’t aware, Arrowhead has been busy fixing a host of issues that have cropped up since the game’s latest patch, including enemy spawn rates and ship modules not working properly. Unfortunately, the Spear is the latest to join that list.

What’s going wrong this time? Well, it’s a little different than the aiming issues that plagued it before – now it’s related to some crashes that people are experiencing.
If you check out the game’s subreddit, you’ll see distraught spear enthusiasts lamenting that their desktops started crashing en masse when they were on a mission where they chose to use the spear as their means of killing.
Thankfully, Arrowhead is aware of the issue and working on a fix, with community manager Twinbeard having responded to people raising the issue on the Helldivers 2 Discord server. “Yes, there are crashes related to Spear right now,” they told one sad Spear user, “We are looking into it. It appears Spear is cursed.”
Yep, damn, that’s the problem we’re facing with this beleaguered bayonet. If you choose to swap your spear for one with a bulletproof shield while you wait for the fix, you’ll be happy to know that the issues people have been reporting – such as it screwing up aiming and being knocked back into people causing instant death – are something Twinbeard claims they believe Arrowhead is “preparing” to fix as well.
So yes, that’s it. Sorry, spear lovers, I’m sure at some point before the end of time it will work perfectly for more than a few days.
