The Boys just wrapped up its fourth season, but it sounds like you’ll have to wait a while if you want more.

Just last week, the much-anticipated fourth season of The Boys welcomed its eighth and final episode, which had to undergo a last-minute name change due to recent events. I won’t give anything away for those who haven’t caught up yet, but let’s take a look at the titular boys in a somewhat sticky situation that, to put it mildly, will probably leave many people wanting more right away.

Unfortunately, season 5 is definitely not coming anytime soon, at least if the words of The Boys protagonist Billy Butcher (aka Karl Urban) are to be believed. Urban shared an Instagram post last week to commemorate the season finale, along with a few behind-the-scenes photos of him and co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and revealed in the caption when we can expect to see season 5 (spotted by GamesRadar).

“Working with outstanding people [Jeffrey Dean Morgan] The happiest moment of my day,” Urban wrote. “That’s all for now, friends. See you in two years (hopefully sooner), the final season will be on [Prime Video]” It’ll obviously be a while, but it’s not particularly surprising considering The Boys season 3 aired back in 2022, so a two-year gap has become pretty normal for fans of the show.

On a positive note, Amazon MGM Studios executive Vernon Sanders said the production company hopes to release a second season of The Boys spinoff The Fifth Generation next year, so you’ll at least be able to see something from the same world soon.

Filming on The Boys season 5, which will also be its final, is expected to begin later this year and will last until 2025, so let’s hope there are no production issues that delay it beyond 2026.
