We are deeply sorry to those who were looking forward to the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2 Open Beta, but for understandable reasons it has been cancelled.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2 was originally scheduled to release a beta ahead of its release in a few months, but developer Saber Interactive released an update this week saying that the beta will not be released after all. Obviously, this may be disappointing news for some of you, but I wouldn’t worry too much as this is all about making sure the game is ready for launch. “Over the past few weeks we’ve seen incredible excitement around the game, both online and at shows during our North American tour,” reads an update post on Steam. “The team at Focus and Saber have been truly blown away by your enthusiasm and we’ve loved seeing the fan art, reactions and memes you’ve shared so far.”

“Space Marine 2 is almost ready. We are now fully focused on optimizing, polishing and fixing remaining issues before launch on September 9th. This means that we will not be running a public online beta, as this would distract the development team from preparing for the full launch, and our priority is to ensure the best experience at launch.” The post notes that the team understands that this may be disappointing news for some, so to thank those interested in participating, anyone who “registers online before midnight Paris time on June 28th, 2024” will receive the following limited edition Bolt Pistol skin.
Last month, Saber finally showed off more of the upcoming shooter, confirming that the game will indeed have online co-op and showing off its three-player co-op mode in action for the first time. If you were hoping to get your hands on the beta, that’s not a big deal since the game is set to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in a few months (September 9).
