Classic Sega hero Ulala will return on a new virtual reality outing later this month.
Cult's classic version of Space Channel 5 is finally shortlisted again later this month, and Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash will be released on PlayStation VR on February 25. The price is $ 39.99.
This sequel has been around for a long time. Space Channel 5: Part 2 (curiously, Michael Jackson appeared in it under the name "Space Michael") was released in 2001. Despite some mobile-based derivatives and ports, the series is largely dormant despite the fact that hero Ural has entered the Sega All-Star Tennis and Racing competitions.
In 2016, Sega conducted a virtual reality experiment on the franchise, which eventually led to the birth of this new game. This new VR Space Channel 5 is about to debut on PlayStation VR, SteamVR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Quest, and several members of the original 90s development team reorganized the project.
The release announcement appeared on PlayStation YouTube, and it's unclear whether platforms other than PSVR will also launch the game on February 25, or that PlayStation's proprietary period is not long. However, it does look like this, as there are now purchase links on the official PlayStation website, and all other platforms are simply listed as "coming soon." The release date occurred after the release of the release date originally scheduled for December 2019, which coincides with the series' 20th anniversary.
If you don't know what is Space Channel 5, please refer to the following: it is a dance and rhythm game, which is essentially a memory-based game. Usually, you dance with evil aliens, these aliens move, and you have to remember and play in time with the music. All along, Ulala and other characters dance on the screen.
It's funny, it's solid, and the robot cheerleaders are behind you, chanting "Go out and go, Space Channel 5! Dance! Shoot! Sexy Ural, yes!" What kind of video game is that. That sentence says it all. It's stupid, it knows, it embraces it. Very charming.
This new VR game seems to be at least a bit more active, because you will be holding the PS Move controller (or the platform's equivalent controller) so you can move around, not just click the direction button. Also, you will dance with Ulala for the first time instead of dancing like her.
