Mountaintop Studios has officially announced the release date for its debut game, Spectre Divide. The free-to-play shooter will be released on Steam next week, Tuesday, September 3. Developed by a team of veterans from Riot, Bungie, and Respawn, Spectre Divide brings a new twist to the competitive shooter format.
The game has recently completed several rounds of closed testing and will soon be available to anyone with a Steam account, no invitation or registration required.

Spectre Divide was just announced earlier this month. The game combines elements of Valorant, Counter-Strike, and other shooters, while adding the unique element of being able to jump between different bodies.
Although this is a 3v3 shooter, it plays more like a 6v6 game, as each player can control two ghosts. This duality creates all sorts of tactical opportunities, such as having one person guard a bomb site while controlling another to provide cover for it.
While it takes a little getting used to, feedback from the closed beta has been pretty positive, and after the disappointing launch of Sony’s Concord, perhaps a free-to-play shooter that tries to do something new (and not borrow too much from other popular games) will be welcomed by players.
The server will 9am PT, 12pm ET, 5pm BST same day. There will be hosts in the US, EU, APAC, and Australia – so you should get good ping no matter where you are in the world. The launch will bring a new map, but ranked matches won’t be live right away, although it will be available shortly after.
