During the PlayStation Showcase, for spiderman 2 Released alongside another trailer introducing Kraven the Hunter.
First, let’s talk about Kraven. He’s looking for an equal, which is bad news for New York as he’s about to start a big hunt. Between him and his minions and the brand new symbiote threat to Earth-1048, Miles and Peter have their hands full.
Kraven and his hunters are a new rival faction, and in order to hunt down Dr. Curt Connors (also known as the Lizards), Peter needs to stop him. Things start off in Queens’ East River, one of the new playable and exploreable boroughs introduced in the game.
As you’ll see in the trailer, Peter Parker is wearing his signature black suit, and it’s not just for looks. The Symbiote Suit gives Peter new tricks, and he becomes even more aggressive as it empowers his Symbiote tendrils to strengthen enemies and slam hard surfaces.
The suit also provides new combat abilities and offensive parry, you can also use the web to avoid enemies and activate evasion which can block some attacks.
This installment also delves into Peter’s personal relationship with the symbiote, and how it affects those closest to him.
Then there’s Miles Morales, a key character in the story. In the gameplay shown, Miles is in Harlem and on the lizard’s tail. You’ll see switching between two playable Spider-Man, speed boosts to traversal, Web Wings, and a wind tunnel that can be used to your advantage.
In the gameplay footage, Miles tracks down the lizard inside the Harlem Fish Market, and Craven’s hunters are taking action on him. You can approach such encounters quietly, or you can enter with your fists pumped. You’ll have new gadgets and abilities to help you fight and give you even more playstyle. One of these new tools is the Web Line, a new way to sneak around the environment to attack enemies.
Miles Morales also has some new abilities and gizmos, such as the Web Grabber, electrified ground-pound Thunderburst, and the Chain Lightning ability.
Between Peter’s new symbiote abilities and Miles’ bioelectricity, each Spider-Man has a set of skills that can be upgraded through individual skill trees. They also share tech and train together, so there’s a shared skill tree that provides parallel upgrades for both. And, if all of that is available, you’ll be able to switch seamlessly between the two Spider-Man at different story moments.
For environments, expect something richer, denser, and full of detail, from particles to improved textures, lighting upgrades, more dramatic shadows and reflections, spatial 3D audio, and a host of new haptics and automatic on-screen DualSense controllers. Adapt to the use of triggers.
Spider-Man 2 will be released this fall, and future updates, including release information and pre-orders, will follow soon.
