This time it wasn’t Tom Holland who revealed the truth. The plot of the Spider-Man 4 movie and the return of certain characters are revealed in advance.
The MCU has been in trouble for some time now. The latest films to hit theaters have struggled to impress, while most projects have been delayed. This did not include the Jonathan Majors affair, which forced Marvel to get rid of who would be the big villain in the next phases of its interconnected universe. The American giant found the perfect solution by bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as Mr. Doom. If there’s one MCU movie that could fill theaters, it’s Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland. After numerous rumors, the actor has finally officially confirmed the existence of the film, which is scheduled to begin filming next summer, with a July 24, 2026 release on the viewfinder. As pre-production has begun, new information has just emerged.
New leaks about Spider-Man 4
Can we make it more spectacular than “No Way Home” and its huge box office success? Sony and Marvel will try it. Tom Holland himself insisted on one thing before throwing himself heart and soul into this project: it had to be worth it, it had to bring something concrete to his character. With the face of his mentor Tony Stark returning as the big bad of the next phases of the MCU, there are stories to be told. However, it appears that Spider-Man 4’s direction has been revealed in advance thanks to Production Weekly, a highly reliable industry site. Then we learn two things. The first is that the film should contain a small number of expected cameos and appearances. Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Michael Keaton (Vulture) and Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man) would actually be there.
The second part sheds more light on the plot of this Spider-Man 4. After the events of Doomsday, Peter Parker is determined to return to a normal life and focus on his student years, putting aside his superhero pseudonym. This moment of peace and calm will be short-lived as a new deadly threat will emerge and endanger his friends and his city. Peter will have to rethink his plans and don his Weaver costume again to work with “an unlikely ally to protect those he loves,” as we can read in the official production document released online. Spider-Man 4 should therefore once again play the card with cameo appearances of all kinds, undoubtedly with a little more restraint.
