Nintendo It has been announced that a fully dedicated Splatoon 3 later this week.
The Direct is scheduled for August 10, so it’s coming next Wednesday, 2pm BST/3pm CET, and promises to provide an update on the upcoming third-person shooter in 30 minutes. You’ll be able to watch it directly on Nintendo UK’s official YouTube channel when it goes live later this week.
Beyond that, there are no specific details on what we can expect to see in the Direct, although given it’s about 30 minutes long, it’s clear that Nintendo has a lot to show us. We might see some new weapons etc. Considering this is a Nintendo not known for books, maybe there will be some surprises along the way.
Back in April, Nintendo finally confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel would be released on September 9, showing the entire game in action. This sequel takes us to a new place called Splatlands, which looks edgier than its cleaner, modern urban counterpart.
The main game mode Turf War is apparently returning, and Left 4 Dead-like
While online multiplayer is the main attraction of the series, the previous two games had a story mode, which will also continue in the next title. Interestingly, the new story mode is called “Return of the Mammals,” and it appears to be exploring the world’s mammal-centric past.
If you haven’t dived deep into Splatoon’s lore hole, mammals like us humans did once exist, but what actually happened is a bit of a mystery, so this new story mode might explore more of the past. There’s always a chance of being teased in an upcoming Direct, so we’ll have to wait and see.
