David Grivel, who was originally set to direct the upcoming dividing cells Remake, apparently gone Ubisoft.
As shared by VGC, Grivel shared a post on his LinkedIn in which he announced his departure from the studio without explaining why he made such a decision. “After more than 11 years at Ubisoft, it’s time for me to start a new adventure,” Greveer wrote in the post.
“11 years is a long time and it’s almost impossible to sum it up in one article, but I must say, I’ve been lucky. I’ve been lucky to have worked with so many great people over the years. Made so many friends… As for that’s What’s the new adventure? Stay tuned.”
Grivel also didn’t elaborate on what this new venture might be, nor did he say who would be taking over the Splinter Cell remake due to his exit from the company.
First announced last year, Splinter Cell Remake was developed by Ubisoft Toronto, the lead studio for Far Cry 6, and produced using the Snowdrop engine, which is the same production engine as the now-delayed Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier, and developed The Star Wars game being developed by people.
Little is known about this game, the classic “yes it’s real” and then nothing to say in this case. It’s being built from the ground up, and producer Matt West did say last year that it’s in the early stages of development, so it might be a while, especially now.
A job listing last month stated that the game would rewrite a story “for a modern audience,” which meant trying to keep the game close to the spirit of the original, but making it more “believable.”
