Hello. Remember Splitgate? Its sequel, Splitgate 2has just been announced and is expected to be released in 2025.
If you missed the original, it was all the rage a few years ago because it was a fun shooter that basically answered all your questions about what would happen if a Halo game and a Portal game fell in love with each other, walked into the bedroom, and, uh, hugged.

As detailed in the latest PlayStation Blog, Splitgate 2 is expected to launch in 2025, and will build on the original thanks to a bigger budget and a larger roster of developers.
“We initially launched Splitgate with just 20 employees, none of whom had ever made a game before,” wrote Ian Proulx, CEO of 1047 Games. “The early success of Splitgate, thanks to passionate players, led to investment that allowed us to grow the team. I’m proud to be working alongside seasoned industry veterans from Riot, Ubisoft, and many other developers responsible for some of my favorite games. 1047 Games is no longer a group of college graduates hoping the servers won’t crash again. We are a team of seasoned gaming veterans making a AAA shooter that we hope will surprise, amaze, and excite you.”
This new Spl itgate certainly sounds like it will follow the blueprint of the original multiplayer shooter, but Proulx stressed that it’s still fresh, as it’s been “built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, with all-new character models, new maps, new weapons, and even new portal walls and portals.”
While there’s no single-player campaign, 1047 Games has hired a writer to build out the world of Splitgate, and their work will be made into a digital Splitgate 2 lore comic that you can read via the game’s website and the Splitgate companion app that launched today.
1047 Games also seemed to reveal that we’ll be getting more details on the game’s faction-based multiplayer soon.
Splitgate 2 will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC in 2025, so let us know below if you’re excited for it!
