Square Enix posted a new final fantasy 16 The trailer focuses on showing off its incredibly gorgeous landscapes and locations.
Compared to the last few numbered entries, Final Fantasy XVI clearly leans more towards fantasy elements, but that doesn’t detract from its looks. Square Enix gave us a new look at the game at its PAX East panel yesterday (March 25), giving us a rundown of some of the different locations we’ll be visiting along the way. Personally, the reveal trailer didn’t inspire confidence, but the look of the world broke my word.

Earlier this year, producer Naoki Yoshida noted that Final Fantasy 16 won’t be an open-world game, but also noted that it won’t be entirely linear either. That feeling is even more pronounced in the latest trailer, showing off some pretty big open spaces, and it looks like they should have some chance to explore.
Open world or not, it’s sure to be a pretty big game too. Game directors Takai Hiroshi and Yoshida said in an interview recently that the game clearance time is about 35 hours, which is quite a long time. If you want to complete the game, go back 70-80 hours. There’s also a lot of story, because about 11 hours of that are film.
While some fans wanted the series to return to its turn-based roots, Final Fantasy 16 stuck to its action combat to appeal to a younger crowd. Turn-based games aren’t all that popular anymore, and it’s no surprise that Square Enix is hoping to attract more players, inspired by recent God of War games.
Final Fantasy XVI will be released on PS5 on June 22.
