STALKER 2 – Heart of Chornobyl is finally scheduled to appear in November after several postponements and sometimes brutal development circumstances, and a 90-minute documentary shows the way there.

Hardly any of us can imagine the circumstances under which the long-term development of STALKER 2 – Heart of Chornobyl took place. After all, a war that has not yet ended and the move to a safer country has influenced many periods of development, not to mention the people themselves.

Ultimately, these very circumstances also led to numerous postponements of the title, which was actually supposed to be rotating on our PCs and consoles since 2022.

The GSC Game World team has already provided insights into the problems surrounding the creation of the game several times in the past and now a 90-minute video documentary has been published under the title War Game: The Making of STALKER 2 – Heart of Chornobyl.

The documentation includes a number of insights in the form of interviews with individual developers, but also excursions into Ukrainian history, the Chernobyl reactor incident, independence from the then Soviet Union, but also the invasion of Ukraine by Russia that began in 2022.

Among other things, there is also talk about how GSC Game World prepared for the invasion and a possible escape. Among other things, it is reported that the studio management secretly chartered buses to take the workforce to a town near the Slovakian border if necessary.

The quasi-evacuation of the studios in Kyiv is also an issue, as is the complete restart of a studio in Prague in order to continue development there, as well as the personnel challenges caused by the necessary replacement of former employees who remain in Ukraine or are involved in the fight against wanted to join Russia.
